Chanukah (Feast of Dedication)
Torah Command:Not commanded in the Torah, but found in the Apocrypha. It is prophesied in Daniel 8; mentioned in John 10:22; Yahshua celebrated and interpreted it.
When is it?:25th day of the 9th month and it goes for 8 days
Also known as:Festival of Lights; Feast of Dedication; Chanukah (Hanukkah)
Overview: Chanukah is history. Chanukah is prophetic. Chanukah is personal. Yahshua was not protesting Chanukah, but rather celebrating and interpreting it for us. He thought it so important that he risked his life to go up to The Feast of Dedication to tell us what it was really about. The "great miracle that happened there" was that Yahshua was conceived in Miriam's womb during the Festival of Lights. Yahshua, the Light of the World arrived during Chanukah to be the shamash (servant) candle who would cleanse us from idolatry and light our wicks –– making us light. The climax of Chanukah is found in understanding that Yahovah wants to reclaim his temple –– your heart, your body and his collective temple (Israel). Chanukah is a celebration of freedom FROM pagan sun-god worship (Christmas). There is no way to have Christmas and Chanukah in the same room. There is a great Melchizedek-connection to Chanukah that will make your head spin.
